Import Leads

Bring leads into Obert from CSV files, LinkedIn searches, Sales Navigator, events, and more.

Signals discover leads automatically, but you can also import leads in bulk from external sources. Imports add leads to your database and optionally to a specific list.

Import from CSV

  1. Go to Lists and open the list you want to import into (or create a new one).
  2. Click Import in the toolbar.
  3. Select CSV Upload.
  4. Upload your file. Obert accepts .csv files with the following columns:
ColumnRequiredDescription
linkedin_urlYes (or first_name + last_name)Full LinkedIn profile URL
first_nameNoLead's first name
last_nameNoLead's last name
emailNoEmail address
companyNoCurrent company name

  1. Map your CSV columns to Obert fields in the mapping screen.

CSV column mapping screen

  1. Click Preview to see a sample of how leads will be imported.
  2. Click Start Import.

The import runs in the background. Track progress in the Jobs panel — you'll see counts of added, duplicate, and failed profiles.

If your CSV includes LinkedIn URLs, Obert enriches each profile with full LinkedIn data (headline, employment history, location). This may take a few minutes for large imports.

  1. Go to Lists → open or create a list.
  2. Click ImportLinkedIn Search.
  3. Enter a search query (same syntax as LinkedIn's search bar).
  4. Select the LinkedIn account to search from.
  5. Preview results and click Import.

Import from a LinkedIn post

  1. Go to Posts in the left sidebar.
  2. Click Add Post and paste the LinkedIn post URL.
  3. Obert fetches the post and extracts all engagers (likes, comments, reactions).
  4. Engagers are added to your lead database and scored.

Alternatively, from any list:

  1. Click ImportPost Engagers.
  2. Paste the post URL.
  3. Select which engagement types to import (likes, comments, or all).

Import from an event

  1. Go to Lists → open or create a list.
  2. Click ImportEvent Attendees.
  3. Paste the LinkedIn event URL.
  4. Optionally add company filters to narrow the attendee list.
  5. Click Start Import.

After importing

Imported leads follow the same flow as signal-discovered leads:

  1. They appear in LeadsPending Approval (unless auto-approved).
  2. They're scored against the list's ICP criteria.
  3. Once approved, they're available for campaigns.

Track import progress

All imports are tracked as jobs:

  1. Click the Jobs icon in the header (or go to the import job directly).
  2. View progress: total expected, added, duplicates, skipped, failed.
  3. If any profiles failed, click View Failed to see which ones and why.

Import job progress tracker

Common failure reasons:

  • Invalid LinkedIn URL format
  • Profile is private or has been removed
  • Rate limit reached on the LinkedIn account (import pauses and resumes automatically)
