Clay

Connect Clay to Obert for lead data enrichment.

Clay is a data enrichment platform that augments your lead profiles with additional information — emails, phone numbers, company data, technographics, and more. Obert integrates with Clay via webhooks.

How the integration works

Unlike HeyReach and Instantly (which use API keys), Clay uses table webhooks. You create a Clay table, configure its webhook in Obert, and Obert pushes lead data to that table for enrichment.

Set up the integration

  1. Open SettingsIntegrations.
  2. Find Clay under Enrichment.
  3. Click Activate.

Create a Clay table

  1. In Clay, create a new table for receiving leads from Obert.
  2. Copy the table's webhook URL from Clay's table settings.
  3. In Obert, click Add Table.
  4. Paste the webhook URL.
  5. Give the table a name (for your reference in Obert).
  6. Optionally add a webhook authentication token for security.
  7. Click Test to verify the connection. Obert sends an empty test request.
  8. Click Save.

You can add multiple Clay tables for different enrichment workflows.

Push leads to Clay

  1. Open a list and select leads.
  2. Click Push toClay.
  3. Select the Clay table from the dropdown.
  4. Click Push.

Data sent to Clay

FieldDescription
first_nameLead's first name
last_nameLead's last name
full_nameCombined full name
linkedin_urlLinkedIn profile URL

companyCurrent company name

Each lead becomes a row in your Clay table, where you can run enrichment recipes to find emails, phone numbers, or any other data point.

Use in campaign sequences

Add a Add to Clay step in your campaign sequence to automatically enrich leads at a specific point in the workflow.

Typical enrichment workflow

  1. Signal discovers leads → added to Obert list.
  2. Push list to Clay → Clay enriches with email addresses.
  3. Export enriched data from Clay.
  4. Push enriched leads to Instantly for email outreach.

Or use campaign integration steps to automate this: Signal → Obert list → Clay enrichment step → Instantly email step.

Troubleshooting

ProblemSolution
Webhook test failsVerify the webhook URL is correct in Clay table settings. Ensure the table is active.
Leads not appearing in ClayCheck that the Clay table isn't full (Clay has row limits per plan).
Authentication errorsIf you set a webhook auth token, make sure it matches in both Obert and Clay.
