Website visitors
Identify people and companies browsing your site, then act on that intent in Obert.
Website visitors turns page views on your domains into named profiles and companies. You install one script, review sessions in Obert, and route high-intent traffic into lists or signals.
- Click Website visitors in the left sidebar.
- Use the site switcher in the header when you track more than one domain.
- Click Add site to register a new hostname.
Add a tracking site
- Click Add site.
- In Add tracking site, enter Domains — one hostname per line (for example
obert.ioandwww.obert.ioon separate lines). - Click Create site.
Obert creates the site and opens its tracker page. Until at least one site exists, you see See who's on your site with steps to add a domain, install the snippet, and review visitors.
Install the tracking script
After you create a site, install the embed before </head> on every page you want to track.
From the waiting state
- Click View install snippet, or open the site menu (⋯) and choose View install snippet.
- In Install tracking script, click Copy snippet (or Copy prompt if you use Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex).
- Paste the snippet into your site HTML before the closing
</head>tag. - Open your primary domain in a new tab and load any page.
Obert shows Waiting for website visitors until the first page view arrives. The page refreshes automatically when traffic connects.
After traffic is connected
Use Copy snippet in the Installation section, or View install snippet from the site menu anytime you need the tag again.
Site metrics and configuration
At the top of each site you see:
| Metric | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Sessions | Page-view sessions recorded |
| Identified | Sessions matched to a person or company |
| People | Person-level resolutions |
| Companies | Company-level resolutions |
Open the settings control (gear) to expand Configuration:
- Site name — label in the site switcher and reports.
- Domains — hostnames allowed to send events.
- Min session seconds — wait time before the first collect and identity resolution (0–3600).
- Advanced → Excluded paths — skip page views on matching URLs.
- Advanced → Resolution pages — only resolve visitors who hit these paths (for example
/pricingor/demo).
Click Save changes when you edit configuration.
Site menu (⋯)
- View install snippet
- Pause tracking / Resume tracking
- Delete site — stops new collection; existing session data may remain in the workspace.
If the snippet is installed but nothing appears, expand Still waiting? Troubleshooting. Common checks: hostnames in Domains match the live site (including www), ad blockers or CSP are not blocking the script, and tracking is not paused.
Person-level identification is US-only; other regions may resolve to company when possible.
Review visitors
Once data flows, the visitor table replaces the waiting panel. Switch tabs with All, Profiles, or Companies.
| Tab | Use it to |
|---|---|
| All | Scan individual sessions with profile and company columns |
| Profiles | Focus on identified people |
| Companies | Focus on company-level matches |
Each tab has its own search box:
- All — Search visitors…
- Profiles — Search profiles…
- Companies — Search companies…
Use Filter, Display, Sort, and Save like other Obert tables. Default sort is Last visit (newest first). Last visit filters include Today, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, and All time.
Typical columns:
- All — Profile, Company, Location, Last visit, Duration, Visited pages, Host, Pages, Source
- Profiles — Name, Title, Company, Location, Host, Last visit, Duration, Visited pages, Pages, Source, Site
- Companies — Company, Location, Host, Last visit, and related visit fields
Source shows how Obert resolved the visit:
- First-party HEM
- IP → HEM
- IP → Company
When tracking is live but no one has resolved yet, the table shows No identified visitors yet — page views are collecting; rows appear after identity resolution.
With filters applied and no matches, you see No visitors match your filters.
Open details and export
- Click a row on All to open the session sheet (duration, paths, referrer, UTM data, and page views).
- Right-click a session and choose View session, View profile (when identified), Open LinkedIn, or Export CSV.
- On Profiles, right-click for View visitor, Open LinkedIn, or Export CSV.
- On Companies, right-click for View company, Open website, or Export CSV.
When a session has an identified person, View profile opens the lead side panel (same context rail as Finder) so you can add the person to a list or take other lead actions.
Select rows to show the selection bar, then Export CSV for the current selection.
Automate with signals
To push matching visitors into the Signals feed or a list on a schedule, create a Website visitors signal. Visitors stream in near real time — there is no poll schedule for that signal type.
See Website visitors signal and Auto-add to lists for setup.
